Confessions of an early retiree!

Ok, time to start recording/sharing some of the things I've been getting up to now I've been 2 years retired. This blog may encourage some of you to take early retirement or help you make your mind up not to retire just yet. On my part, this blog is just for fun to try and help me remember what I've been up to. Although I love and worked many years in the tech domain, I'll be learning how to blog as I go along, it may look slightly different if or when you decide to return. So here we go!!

This is me: I'm a 61 year old British born male of West Indian descent, living in Bedfordshire, United Kingdom.

After my wife, my first love is music, that's listening, creating and on occasion playing music. I know that sounds very cliche but that is actually how it is for me. I love to try and learn new things and being more of a future thinker than a historical thinker, I like to think I'm good at learning new things and readily explore new technology / ideas.

11 Sept 2023: It's our wedding anniversary!!

For many this date marks a tragic event in recent history for America and the world, which I completely agree with, however this is also a very significant day for me as it is the day I was married 19 years ago. To mark the occasion, I gifted my wife (a keen gardener - unlike myself) a brass effect garden ornament of swallows that spin on their axis when the wind blows.

Luckily I think she liked it!!

12 Sept 2023: I've enrolled on a drone course

I was brought a drone for my birthday earlier in the year which is still in its box and have just got around to signing up for an online drone course (using UAVHub.com) to get my Open A1 and A3 certificate. I've resisted opening it up and having a go without any training as I want to do it the right way for a change. My master plan is to offer house aerial shots to friends and family and who knows maybe supplement my retirement income a bit. Watch this space.

13 Sept 2023:Passed my drone Flyer ID certificate exam today

Now have a Flyer ID number from the CAA. Just got to learn to fly the thing.
